07/08 Season's 1st half (untill 31.Dec.'07) : 07/08シーズン前半予想 (filed:12.Sep.'07)
Saprky(ヒューズ）が指揮を執り始めて４シーズン目。戦術も浸透し、選手も粒が揃った期待の今シーズン。夏の移籍期間も終了し選手の顔ぶれも決定したところで今シーズン前半の展望(?)を知人友人に聞いてみました。ご回答頂いた皆様、ご協力有難うございます。

I voted him player of the year last year and he's continued in the same mold. Can't believe his transformation over the last 2 years.
エマートン ：昨シーズンはプレイヤーオブザイヤーに投票したくらいの注目株。昨年に引き続き調子を維持している。なんたってここ2年間で信じられないくらい改善している（この調子でいけば相当良い選手になると期待）。

Dunn
looking like his progress was halted at Brum but picking up where he should have been if he'd stayed at Rovers. If he stays fit, he is going to be incredibly important.
ドン（ダン）： バーミンガムで選手としての成長は止まったかに見えたが、戻って来てから改善されている。あのままローヴァーズに留まっていたらどうなってたかな？このまま怪我無く調子をキープできれば掛け値無しに重要な選手だと思う。

Derbyshire
things just seem to happen if he comes off the bench. Pacey and an eye for goal. Useful weapon in last 20 mins.
ダービシャー： スピード間、ゴールへの貪欲さ。交代出場で試合終了20分間の効果的な戦力だと思う。

It's a hard one this as we really are a good team, rather than a decent team with outstanding individuals. But I'll go for players in the spine:

Nelsen:
Samba may be the more eye-catching of our defenders but Nelsen organises the back 4 and does the ugly work superbly. A true leader.
ネルセン： 目を引くのはサンバかもしれないがバック4を操るのは彼。真のリーダー。
Dunn:
Slowly getting back to his best. If he continues to improve he could be the player that takes us into the top four. Not many midfielders have got it all, Dunn could be one of them.
ドン（ダン）： 徐々にベストの状態に戻りつつある。多くのMFのように凡な選手で終わる可能性があったが、このまま改善を続ければローヴァーズをトップ4に押し上げる選手の一人になることは間違いない。
McCarthy:
Scores goals. Doesn't do much else but, as long as he keeps scoring, I'm happy. All the best teams have a goalscorer - McCarthy's ours.
マッカーシー：ゴールを決める以外のことはしないがゴールを決め続けてくれればそれで充分。強いチームにはゴールスコアラーがいるものであり、ローヴァーズにとってそれがマッカーシーだから。

Bert - Nelsen - Big Chris - The Warlock (the defence is easy enough),

ウォーロック様（ウォーノック）は守備は申し分無し

Dave - Dunny - Savage - The Artist (MGP plays but is going through one of his slightly dodgy spells - he'll come out of it as soon as he scores a goal).

アーティスト（ペデルセン）は只今軽くスランプ中ですがゴールを1つ決めさえれば速攻で復調するでしょう。

Up front?
Roque Santa Cruz and, well, it's a very tricky question, along with - Did the U.S. really put a man on the moon? Who shot JFK and Who should partner Roque Santa Cruz up front for Blackburn Rovers? I'd personally go with Matt Derbyshire as I feel his work rate is greater than Benni's. This will of course be countered with the fact that Benni scored all those goals last season. So what? That was last year. So it's Derbyshire for me who needs to be given a run in the team if we're to find out just how good he is. I fully expect it to be "very" good.

最前線攻撃部ですか？
サンタクルス、その相方は...ローヴァーズはサンタクルスを誰を組ませるのか？アメリカは本当に人間を月に送ったのか？誰がケネディを撃ったのか？...回答に慎重を期する質問です。
個人的にはマッカーシーよりダービシャーの仕事ぶりを評価しています。昨シーズンのゴール数を引き合いに反論されるかもしれませんが、それがなんだ？だってそれは昨シーズンの事。ダービシャーがいかに良いか見せつけてくれるために彼は試合に出なければならないんです。いろいろ考え合わせるとサンタクルスとダービシャーというこの組み合わせが非常に良いのではないかと思ってます。

Big Cwis Samba :
What a find, if he continues to progress and improve at this rate one of the "big" clubs will be in for him. Our only hope is that he'll turn Birmingham down. A true colossus and that header yesterday at Chelsea was the stuff of legends.
サンバ：よくこんな選手を見つけた！このまま向上し続ければビッククラブが引き抜きにくるだろう。ただ、バーミンガム・シティから引き合いが合っても一蹴してくれる事を望む。(*)　￣￣￣未訳

David Dunny Dunn :
Back to his best and maybe even better than his best, that's if you can remember his best last time round and even if you can you'll do well to measure his previous best with his best of today as he never stops still long enough to get it measured. Looks fitter than ever, has added a maturity to his game (funny that with him being older) and no longer finds himself out of position (well not much anyway!). It's looking very very promising.

Roque Santa Cruz :
I went to Boro and he made a run from the half way line and crossed a ball in that showed immediately that we've got a cracking player. Oh and he scored as well. We've not had a forward like this fella for years, reminds me of Newell/Sutton. Will be a real asset for us and leads the line brilliantly.

Notice that all the above joined in 2007? They all came cheap as well. The "hottest" thing at the club (apart from Roarina of course) is undoubtedly the manager. We can only hope that Man Utd's form continues to pick up and Fergie decides to carry on for another 20 years. They may look elsewhere for their next manager but I really don't think they could pick anyone better than Mark Hughes. Just make sure nobody tells them!

Stephen Warnock
Mark Hughes got him from Liverpool where he was playing in their reserve team and he has been brilliant.
ウォーノック：リバプールの2軍から連れてきたら良い選手だった、さらに素晴らしい活躍を期待。

David Bentley
Mark Hughes got him from Arsenal reserves and turned him into a really great right winger
ベントリー：ヒューズがアーセナルの２軍から引き抜きトップクラスの右ウインガーに仕立てた。

Rovers haven't lost for the past 14 games, so if we continue Rovers should be about 6th or 7th.
ここまで14試合負けなし、この調子なら6位か7位に。

It will be interesting to see if he recovers from his injury and regains the form of 2 seasons ago.
リード：怪我での長期離脱から2シーズン前のキレに復調するのかどうか興味深い。

Martin Olsson :
Have seen him a number of times in the reserves, looks quick and skilfull with a natural left foot - good cover for Warnock and Pederson, if he makes the step up could become a regular next season.
オルッソン：リザーブ(2軍)の試合で何度となく見ている。生まれつき利き足は左で、速さもテクニックもあるようだ。ウォーノックとペデルセンの控えに使えるだろう。うまくステップアップできれば来期はレギュラーになるかも。

Santa Cruz :
Performance so far has been good and appears to be adjusting to the premiership. Will be interesting to see if he improves and whether given the right service will develop into a scoring sensation.
サンタクルス：ここまでのところプレミアにうまく適応している。さらに向上し、うまく機能すれば、高得点者としてセンセーションを巻き起こせるだろう。

10th:
We have a few tough games before the end of then. Man U and City away plus Liverpool and Chelsea at home. I think if we can be in the top 10 at the end of December then we have a chance to push for the top 6 by the end of the season and have a good cup run.
大晦日までにマンチェスター・ユナイテッド，マンチェスター・シティのアウェイ戦、ホームでリバプールとチェルシー戦をこなさなくてはならない、とするとその時点で10位ならばシーズン終了時に６位フィニッシュのチャンスはあると思う。あと、カップ戦もうまくいくんじゃないかな？

Sydney Rovers

He'll have more of a role in the team with McCarthy looking very uninterested.

and looking to push towards the European spot after a couple of shrewd signings by Hughes during the January transfer window.

恐ろしくなるくらいの成長具合。クロス、ドリブル突破、FK/CKだけでなく、技術の向上でさらに視野が広がっている。このまま右肩上がりの成長を遂げれば...どこまで行っちゃうの！？非常に楽しみ。

Derbyshire　ダービシャー
フットボールに集中している今が伸び時。若さか性格か？変な色気（成績を上げて移籍を視野，等）がないこの時期に劇的な成長を望む。この勢いを維持できればスターティングメンバーの定位置を奪取しそう。

Warnock　ウォーノック
なんで注目度が低いのかわからん！　ガッツ溢れる職人気質な守備、思い切って上がる攻撃参加、ダイナミックなサイドチェンジのロングフィード。守備に攻撃にクラスチェンジする資質は充分だと思う。期待してる。
